Coach Claude Puel has been dealt a fitness blow as Lyon take their title challenge to Toulouse looking to bridge the five-point gap on Ligue 1 leaders Marseille.
With Marseille and second-placed Lille in Lyon`s sights, France midfielder Jeremy Toulalan will be absent from the travelling party after injuring his left knee against Montpellier on Wednesday.
Cris has also been ruled despite overcoming a chest problem and Ederson is a doubt, while Miralem Pjanic is suspended.
"Cris is better, but he will forfeit the match in Toulouse,'' Puel said.
"Toulalan needs care and he remains uncertain for the upcoming game with Marseille.
"Pape Diakhate has trained very well and this have given him the opportunity to replace him.
"He deserves it because of his effort.''
Lyon go into this weekend`s fixtures on 56 points, five behind Marseille, who they meet in a week`s time, and four behind Lille.
